LOP 81 Glengad Head

Glengad Head The lookout post No. 73 is located on a hilltop near Glentoskert. Today the lookout is painted white and the massive chimney is still on the roof.  500 metres west of the lookout is the Eire sign in the ground. The sign was helpful for Allied aircraft navigation during World War II. The light projection at this location was created in honour of singer and songwriter Shane MacGowan. His hand-drawn sketches and handwritten texts from the ‘Donegal Express’, published in his book ‘A drink with Shane MacGowan’, were adapted to the building. The lights of the Northern Irish coast can be seen in the background.
