Fanad Head Close to the Fanad lighthouse an English coast watch station was briefly re-occupied by coast watchers during the World War II. The building in much bigger than the lookout posts build by the 2ww coast watching service and has only fife front windows. Although the building looks similar to the Irish posts there was no light work implementation made during the project. From here the coast watcher observed the shore during the emergency and written daily reports in their logbooks. The logbooks are open today for public at the Irish Defence Forces website militaryarchives.ie.
