Arranmore Point This lookout post was situated at the north shore of Aran island. The place can be found behind the turf filed close to the cliff edge. Today only the concrete fundament remains to the former lookout post no.49. From here the coast watcher of the 2ww coast watching service had a far view far over the Atlantic. During their observations they wrote reports about the activities by the sea and air in their logbooks. These logbooks are open for public today at the Irish Defence Forces website militaryarchives.ie. In 150 meters distance an Eire sign can be found in the ground that was helpful for navigations of the allied aircrafts during the ww2.
