Carrigan Head The lookout post no.71 can be found next to a Napoleonic signal tower left hand to the road to the Slive League Viewpoint. Today the lookout post is collapsed but close to the road the Eire 71 sign was recently restored. The Eire landmarks was a helpful for navigations of aircrafts during the ww2. Especially for the American aircrafts that came over the Atlantic was this helpful to find the “Donegal Corridor” to Northern Ireland. From here the coast watcher of the 2ww coast watching service reported all activities around that area in their logbooks. The reports are open today for public at the Irish Defence Forces website militaryarchives.ie.
