Rosskeeragh To observe the north part of the Sligo bay the lookout post no. 68 was built on a hilltop close to Ballineden. Today the post is collapsed and the single blocks lay on the ground like a concrete skeleton. From here the coast watcher of the 2ww coast watching service reported all military activities around that area in logbooks. The telephone connection to each lookout post allowed the Defence Forces to create a motion profile of marina and airspace activities over longer distances. The reports are open today for public at the Irish Defence Forces website militaryarchives.ie.
