Kilronan Kilronan is the main settlement on the Inishmore island. At the highest point the Eochaill lighthouse was in function for the lookout post no.50 during the second world war. From here local resident coast watcher observed the shore around the island. The lighthouse housed the first telephone link to the mainland which was used to report to H.Q in Athlone every hour during the war. The reports were forwarded in addition to the reports from the post no.48 in assigning to the Army H.Q map.
