Black Head This lookout post was probably located close to the Black Head lighthouse in the Burren area of County Clare. Today the shapes of a concrete fundament may remain to the lookout post no.48. From here the volunteers of the 2ww coast watching service had a view over the southern Galway bay up to the Aran islands. During their observation they wrote reports about the activities by the sea and air in logbooks. The logbooks are open today for public at the Irish Defence Forces website militaryarchives.ie. Close to the former lookout half a mile in direction of Murroughkelly a huge Eire sign written in the ground with stones can still found today.
