LOP 34 Bolus Head

Bolus Head  The lookout post no. 34 is situated close to the ruin of the Old Barracks of Bolus Head. The barracks was builtduring the Napoleonic war period to observe the Irish shore. Close to the headland the Skellig islands are located in visible distance of eight miles. In leaning to the Napoleonic war and the expand view over the Atlanic the painting “The raft of Medusa” by Théodore Géricault was selected for this light work. The painting take reference to a ships tragedy during Napoleonic war. Further more the painting was used in 1985 for the record cover “Rum Sodomy and the lash” by The Pogues. During the dawn the painting was embed in harmony of the surrounding sunset light.
