Dunany Point The remains of the weathered lookout post No. 2 is located north of Dunany Bay beach. Today the building has collapsed and is in danger of falling into the sea. Near the post was an Eire sign which helped Allied aircraft navigate during the Second World War. When the post was in operation, it was connected to the other posts by telephone. From here, seventeen coastguards in three shifts watched Dundalk Bay and recorded all military activity in logbooks. These logbooks can be viewed on the Irish Defence Forces website militaryarchives.ie.
