Forlorn Point At this point the coats watcher used an already existed cost watch building to observe the shore during the emergency. The reports of this observation are open for public today and can be seen on the website www.militaryarchives.ie. The building probably was built before to observe the marina activity around the Kilmore Quay. Today the Irish Coast Guard use the building for the marine radio service. A huge storehouse blocks the view to the harbor and the east part of the bay. The panorama shooting of this place was made closer to the sea. A memorial trail & garden remains the loss of eleven crew members of the steam trawler Leukos that was sunk by a German submarine near Tory Island in 1940.
