Lop 35 Bray Head & Eire Sign

Bray Head

On the west coast of Valentia Island, Bray Head Tower was used as lookout post No. 35 during the Second World War. The tower was built in 1815 during the French invasion and was used as a signal station by the naval authorities until 1920. For its reuse, the tower was given an extended weather protection cover on the west side. Extensive renovation work has recently begun to make the tower accessible to visitors. The associated Eire sign is located 100 metres below the building. Today, some of the letters are still clearly visible.

A photography from 2011 shows the original structure before restoration.
